Re: The iPad

Let me put some facts on a row.
So the name is 'iPad' and not 'iSlate' like many people assumed.
You can watch movies, read e-books, listen music, surf the world wide web (3G, WiFi).
The cheapest version costs $499.
Capacity: 16GB - 64GB. Processor is 1GHz. Battery life: 10 hours.
Thickness: 1cm and 9,7 inch wide.
This is another great product from Apple.
And here is a picture:

Re: The iPad

After looking at the vids there really isn't anything special to this device. most of the things on there i use on my 3GS. From music, internet, apps, and most importantly phone and text. Now if apple wanted to make this a great device they would've also included a cam to make conference calls (maybe to a later version not sure). take away the music, apps, internet, and iwork, and what do you get a high-tech e-book. No usb, no multitasking, no buy.

I know some will find this useful, but the only thing new they presented was a ibook store. i don't hide the fact that apple moved technology forward with this device but they should've added something that was WOW! iFail.

Re: The iPad

It's exactly what Steve said it would be.

It fills the predominantly nonexistent gap between the iPhone and the MacBook. It's better than a smartphone, but not as good as a notebook.

Considering the prices for 3G-enabled netbooks (mixing in the cost of somewhat disappointing 3G plans from Verizon/AT&T), the iPad at $629 with 3G built-in (and at fantastic price plans), Apple's product does exactly what I need it to do- and more with the App Store.

People bash the iPad (and iPhone/iPod touch) for lack of flash, but they don't understand that the problem is Adobe's. Because it's well known that most of the error reports from Mac OS X come from Adobe Flash crashes. Personally, I wouldn't like to have my iProduct crash on behalf of buggy code implemented from the complaints of overzealous, albeit clueless, consumers.

Useless on a device like this. Processor speed is far more crucial than memory on tablets.

And Apple, I guarantee, has optimized the iPad OS to take full advantage of their hardware, including Apple's own A4 processor.

Re: The iPad

I'm sorry to say, whether you like or not, It is not revolutionary and furthermore, it is an oversize iPod Touch.

It does everything the iPod Touch does but only bigger and adds ebooks and a couple other little features to accompany the bigger screen, otherwise it's safe to say it's an oversized iPod Touch, and the netbook is still much more powerful.

You are of course entitled to your own opinion.

Re: The iPad

In MY opinion, the iPad is not as powerful as I thought it would be.
Though, still a nice device.
The only thing that really bothers me, is the fact that Apple didn't use OS X, in stead of iPhone OS.

It has an entire office suite built for the device.

Re: The iPad

Though it's a great device with a lot of innovation, I just don't see the practicality of the whole thing for general consumers when they could just get an iPhone. However, my dad who's a doctor is planning to use them for 3D X-ray imaging sooo there's one great use :P

Re: The iPad

I don't like it. Yes, it may fill a gap, but is it a gap that needs filled? The cheapest option is $500; I paid that much for my current Mac. I agree it's nice to play with, but I really don't think kit's worth the money.
